The goal of this project is to research and develop solutions based in computational intelligence for application in indusrial production processes, developing solutions involving the following areas:
Rule-based control systems for application in complex industrial processes. The rule base can be, for example, provided by experts on the relevant industrial processes.
Soft sensors (or virtual sensors) with the goal of determining some physical variable(s) as a function of other physical variable(s). This allows for the determination of values in situations of difficult direct measurement.
Hardware and software modules for real-time processing and communication using industrial protocols. The solutions entail control systems defined based on human rules, computational intelligence systems (eg. fuzzy systems, neural networks, support vector machines (SVM's)) and digital electronic systems.
All the systems to be developed will enable important productivity gains in industria l manufacturing processes.
